As the world gets smarter with technology and people become more interested in their health, the perspective of ‘the perfect lifestyle’ or the ‘dream career’ has started to shift. Gone are the days where ladder-climbing corporate jobs are desired and 9-5 work days are the only option. People’s priorities have changed. They are moving towards a lifestyle that benefits their health, their time and their personal development — and the yoga industry provides all of these things.
The yoga industry offers so many different opportunities. Yoga itself has been shown to benefit the body and mind, so setting up a career around these concepts has been highly advantageous for many budding entrepreneurs. Natural therapies (yoga included) are one of the fastest growing industries in the world, so how can you jump on board?
It starts with you.
First, you need to look at your life. Do you get enough time to spend with your family or do the things you love? Is you health a top priority (as it should be)? Are you stuck on the daily grind? The big question is, are you happy with your life? If not, it’s time for a change. The first thing you need to do is realise this and accept it.
It is important to do some industry research regarding both the yoga world and the business landscape. Once you have the basic principals down packed, you will have the necessary tools to start making changes. The next thing you need to do is think about where you want your yoga practice to take you in a business sense. As beneficial as it is, simply practicing yoga isn’t going to earn an income, and we all need an income. Becoming a yoga teacher allows you to work flexible hours, help others and work on yourself at the same time. Owning your own yoga studio is even more flexible, with the ability to hire teachers and run your studio as it suits you. It is important to think about how much flexibility you want as well as how much income you need.
Changing your whole life can be confronting, but if it means heading towards a happier life, it is absolutely worth it. A consistent yoga practice will help you to keep your mind clear and your focus strong, so make sure it is a big part of your process! You KNOW if it is time for a change, your mind and heart tells you so. You can FEEL it. All you have to do is TRUST it.
